About Culture Street

CultureStreet is a one-stop destination to introduce young people to contemporary artists, writers, curators and performers and their amazing work through our Art, Stage, Museums and Book channels. Our passion is encouraging creativity in the classroom and beyond, and where a child lives shouldn’t be a barrier to the arts.

Our website is jam-packed full of interactive resources to inspire young people to get started and share their work. There’s everything from making a clay coil pot, an animation, or a book, to understanding what the Turner Prize is all about and what arts organisations actually do. Check out our have a go and reviews, and what is sections for more.

We provide practical support for creative projects in our workshop section. Here, we feature a wide range of filmed classroom workshops, led by our collaborations with professional artists from many different artforms.

You might have come across our former sites such as ArtisanCam and ArtisanCam Performance. ArtisanCam was nominated for the prestigious Webby awards and won a BETT award in 2007 and a BAFTA in 2008. As CultureStreet, we’ve been able to draw together our family of creative websites in one place. We look to support Arts Award to help young people develop their creative and leadership talents and gaining accreditation. The CultureStreet site has been previously funded by Arts Council England. In 2017 we started a new phase of development in partnership with ArtUK to create resources about sculpture in public collection in the UK. Over the next three years we will be adding video content, teachers resources and workshops that help to inform audiences some of the diverse and inspiring sculptures that are in public collections. This work is funded by a succesful application to the Heritage Lottery fund.
